The fine French sea salt from STAY SPICED! is the perfect salt for everyday use in the kitchen thanks to its wide range of uses. It can be used when preparing your dishes with game, pork, beef, lamb, veal, chicken, vegetables, seafood or for salting the water used to cook pasta, potatoes or vegetables, or as table salt in a salt shaker for individual seasoning. An absolute must-have ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine!
On the French coast there are large salt basins, also known as salt gardens, where the delicious sea salt is produced. Sea water is first channeled into shallow basins, where it evaporates under the sun's rays and crystallizes into sea salt. The untreated sea salt from France is then ground into a fine grain.
Traditional regions of sea salt origin include, among others, France, Portugal, and China. There, seawater is channeled into so-called salt gardens, which are, for instance, shallow lakes. It is not just the evaporation of liquid that contributes to the increase in salt concentration in the remaining water. After further processes, such as the removal of the remaining water, layers of salt are formed. Now it is time to "harvest" the salt. Looking at total global salt production, the share of sea salt accounts for 30 percent.
Our untreated French sea salt contains many minerals and is characterized by its strong, salty note. The taste is strong, which is why a conscious dosage is generally recommended.
