Held & Herd – Cooking without borders
A cookbook by Christoph “Krauli” Held

This book is more than just a collection of recipes – it's a declaration of roots and, at the same time, a culinary exploration beyond the familiar. Christoph "Krauli" Held takes you into his world of conscious cooking – characterized by regional ties, honest craftsmanship, genuine appreciation for quality ingredients, and a unique approach to the kitchen. Packed with inspiration, knowledge, and hands-on tips that will make you want to start cooking right away.

In his first book, the award-winning chef, restaurateur, and nature lover brings together 60 creative dishes and 40 pantry recipes – inspired by seasonal ingredients, traditional knowledge, and modern ideas. The cookbook invites readers to create amazing dishes with simple ingredients, to remain curious, and to see their own kitchen as a playground.

Held & Herd is a culinary journey through the year. It features recipes that are practical for everyday life, yet always have that certain something. Krauli offers tips on storage, preservation, and using up leftovers – and shows how much depth can be found in simple things. His credo: Be rooted – without letting yourself be limited.

Who is?
Christoph “Krauli” Held is a passionate chef – and a true character. Growing up in Upper Austria, he learned early on about the power of honest food. Today, he runs the award-winning Siriuskogl restaurant in Bad Ischl, both down-to-earth and visionary. In his book, Held & Herd, he shares his philosophy: cooking can be simple, but never arbitrary. For him, love of his homeland, curiosity, and appreciation go hand in hand.
